And so goes the story of Akron, Ohio's Zero Parade. The foursome
have been avoiding getting real jobs since their official formation
in 1993. Since that time they have planted their feet firmly
on the grassroots trail of band booking and promotion. In November
of 1997, Zero Parade signed with Acme Entertainment, Inc.
Formerly known as The HeebeeGeebees, the members of Zero Parade
have logged many a mile on their tour vehicles by plowing through
the entire eastern half of the U.S. and playing hundreds of shows
to their 9,000 mailing list supporters. En route from the midwest,
southeast and mid-atlantic, the band has made their way onto
stages with Blues Traveler, The Dave Matthews Band, Mighty Mighty
Bosstones, Cake, Live and most recently, Zero Parade opened for
Ben Folds Five in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They have sold nearly
10,000 copies of their self-released LPs, "HeebeeGeebees"
and "So What". Both discs received airplay from college
radio, as well as a handful of commercial stations in and around
the midwest.
Zero Parade is anxious to get on the road this summer and
bring their audience-interactive shows to as many venues as possible.
Bobby Quick, lead vocalist and guitar player philosophizes, "People
take life way too seriously and unfortunately some folks are
just burdened with some overwhelming, heavy situations. Being
in Zero Parade is all about entertainment for us, so if our music
can crack a smile on someone's face or get their booty shaking
then we know we've done a good job. Call our music unapologetic,
naive, goofball, whatever. . . just call the record store and
order it, dammit!"
Zero Parade's album was produced by Justin Niebank whose laundry
list of credits includes producing records for Mighty Joe Plum,
Stir, John Mellencamp, Blues Traveler and Eric Clapton. The 13
tracks were recorded in the comfy surroundings of Justin's home-studio
in music city, Nashville, TN.
